Where Maryland Ranks Nationally For Airfare Prices

Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

The one thing that has become constant about airfares is that they are constantly changing.

The COVID-19 pandemic, consumer demand for travel and fuel prices are just some factors that consistently impact the cost of air travel. That makes it a challenge for passengers to anticipate how much it’ll cost to take a vacation, visit friends and relatives, or make a business trip.

Using data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, BetMaryland.com – your source for the best Maryland sports betting promos – ranked the states and the District of Columbia based on approximate average domestic airline itinerary fares by origin city for 2022 and the first quarter of 2023.

The airfares at the Bureau of Transportation website are reported based on individual cities, and obviously the cities within a given state are of varying sizes. We averaged out the fares by city, then ranked the states accordingly.
