Baltimore Orioles Playoff Chances: Can the O's Make the Playoffs?

Matt Perrault Profile Picture
Fact Checked by Blake Weishaar

The Baltimore Orioles’ playoff hopes have faded. At 73–83, they sit last in the AL East and are 11 games back in the Wild Card race. With Baltimore’s odds off the board at Maryland sportsbooks, the O’s will focus on closing out the season with wins and turning their attention to next year.

We will continue to track Baltimore through the end of the season and into the offseason. The O’s have series remaining against the Rays and Yankees.

How Many Times Have the Orioles Made the Playoffs?

The Orioles have made the MLB Playoffs 16 times out of their 73 years in the league, meaning that every five years, the O's are back in the postseason.

New MLB Playoffs Format

Major League Baseball is now using a 12-team bracket instead of a ten to determine the World Series Champion. Three division winners will be battling it out with three wild-card teams in each league.

The top two division winners from each league will receive a bye to the second round. The other remaining teams will play a best-of-3 series at the higher seed's park.

After the first round, a best-of-5 series will begin at the 1 and 2 seeds' home stadiums, with the winners facing off in a best-of-7 championship series for the right to play in the World Series.

Orioles Standings: AL East

The Orioles sit last in the AL East and keep falling behind as the season progresses.

How Many Times Have the Orioles Won the World Series?

The Orioles have won the World Series three times, but you have to go back to 1983 to find the last World Series title for Baltimore. That year, the O's beat the Phillies 4-1 to claim their third championship. Previously, Baltimore won it all in 1970 and 1966.

It's been a long 43 years for fans of the Orioles.

What are the Orioles American League Odds?

The Orioles’ position in the American League standings has slipped after a disappointing start to the season, and oddsmakers have removed their odds to win the AL.

Stick around as we track and update the Orioles’ odds through the end of the MLB season and throughout the offseason.
