On the heels of a miserable start to the MLB season for the Baltimore Orioles at 11-18, it’s fair to wonder whether general manager Mike Elias will opt to blow things up in the Charm City. With that in mind, BetMaryland.com, as part of our Maryland sports betting coverage, developed exclusive odds projecting whether longtime Orioles’ slugger Ryan Mountcastle will be traded.
Team | Odds | Percent Chance |
Stay w/ Baltimore Orioles | +100 | 50.0% |
New York Mets | +700 | 12.5% |
Toronto Blue Jays | +800 | 11.1% |
Seattle Mariners | +850 | 10.5% |
Pittsburgh Pirates | +1600 | 5.9% |
The Field | +900 | 10.0% |

So far this year, Mountcastle has been just as cold as the O’s have. Though games of April 29, the sixth-year veteran is hitting .191 with one home run and six RBIs in 89 at bats – and that start could complicate any potential deal for the 28-year-old infielder/outfielder this season.
This year, Mountcastle is making $6.787 million after avoiding arbitration during the offseason. He still has one more season of team control before entering unrestricted free agency in 2027, which could entice teams to take a swing on the Florida native this season. That, in turn, could have an impact on Baltimore Orioles playoff odds.
With that in mind, we still have Baltimore as the leader to keep Mountcastle in town through the end of the MLB season, at +100 odds. We think potential landing spots outside of the Charm City include the New York Mets (+700 odds on our board), Toronto Blue Jays (+800), Seattle Mariners (+850) and Pittsburgh Pirates (+1600).
While the 2025 season has been anything but kind to Mountcastle (and the O’s at large), the 28-year-old has posted 2+ WAR seasons in each of the last two seasons, including a career-high 2.6 WAR in 124 games last season.

With the opening 29 games of the MLB season being a nightmare of sorts for Baltimore baseball fans (and players), it’s worth wondering what Elias’ next move will be. If the team keeps slumping, veteran players such as Mountcastle could be moved before the league’s trade deadline this summer.
