Whoever said that there’s never enough of a good thing must have been a reality TV show fan, as fans of the longstanding “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” franchises and their senior-aged spinoff, “Golden Bachelor” have another dating show to fixate on.
That’s because ABC has a new spinoff, called “The Golden Bachelorette” where men aged 55 and up have competed to win over a woman of their age group named Joan Vassos, proving that love really doesn’t know any bounds (as long as there’s an audience, that is).
The first-ever episode aired on Sept. 18. Vassos, 61, is a widowed mom of four from Maryland who works as a school administrator and was a contestant on “The Golden Bachelor.” At BetMaryland.com we’re excited for this brand-new show and to root on the Maryland-homegrown bachelorette as she tries to find love. We decided to briefly pause our Maryland sports betting coverage to bring you updates on the popular show. We have developed exclusive odds to see who will get the final rose at the end of the first season of "The Golden Bachelorette," with the finale set to air Nov. 13.
Name | Odds | Percent Chance |
Chock | -2700 | 96.4% |
Guy | +2700 | 3.6% |
Of the 24 men who began the contest to win over Vassos’ heart, two remain.
Our overwhelming favorite is still Chock, a 60-year-old insurance executive. After the field was cut from three to two during the episode that aired Oct. 30, we give Chock -2700 odds of being the last one standing. If this were a prop bet at Maryland sportsbook apps, those odds would translate to a 96.4% implied probability.
The only obstacle remaining for Chock is Guy, 66, an emergency room doctor. But we only give him a 3.6% chance, or +2700 odds. In the most recent episode, 69-year-old salon owner Pascal took himself out of the running.
Name | Age | Job |
Chock | 60 | Insurance Executive |
Guy | 66 | Emergency Room Doctor |

Joan Vassos is this season’s Golden Bachelorette. The 61-year-old widow and mother was a beloved contestant on the first season of The Golden Bachelor who notably had to leave the show to be with her daughter during a medical emergency.
The Golden Bachelorette airs every Wednesday on ABC at 8 p.m. ET. The episodes are available to stream on Hulu the next day. The season finale is set for Nov. 13.
Gil Ramirez, 60, is now being edited out of episodes after the Superior Court of California granted a 62-year-old woman who dated Ramirez a temporary restraining order for harassment. He stopped appearing after the Week 3 episode.
Because of his sweet, caring, innocent nature, many fans wanted Charles L. to be the next Golden Bachelor. He was sent home from The Golden Bachelorette in Week 4. After that, there were fans speculating that Mark was being primed to be the next Golden Bachelor as he has been tied to the show since his daughter’s season. But he was eliminated when the field was cut from five contestants to three.
