Varying Interests Apparent in Search Volume in 2023

The Top 10 list featured personalities, such as Hamlin, a technological innovation, an e-commerce platform, motion pictures, as well as practical news-you-can-use, such as the weather.

Damar Hamlin was the No. 1 most searched term, according to BetMaryland.com’s methodology, with a percentage increase of 2,450% over the period  measured. So far this season, Hamlin has played in four games for Buffalo. He made his first tackle in a game against Denver on Nov. 13.

The No. 2 term was “Chat GPT,” the artificial intelligence software application. As a search term, it had an increase of 1,700%.

The No. 3 search term was Temu.  Temu is an international e-commerce company that sells items at relatively inexpensive prices. It had an increase of 1,100%.

The fourth-most searched term for Marylanders was “Weather 10 Days,” whose usefulness is apparent. That enjoyed an increase of 1,050%.

From the world of entertainment, the term “Barbie Movie” was No. 5 with the pop culture phenomena showing an increase of 800% as a search term.

Sports personality Deion Sanders showed his influence had cultural legs as “Colorado Football” was the No. 6 search term with an increase of 750%. When Sanders became the head football coach at Colorado, his celebrity generated heightened interest among athletes and fans alike.

The No. 7 search term was “The Sound of Freedom,” with an increase of 700%. ”Sound of Freedom”  is a movie that describes a former U.S. government agent’s efforts to save children from human trafficking in South America.

The next three terms were all calendar milestones that occur annually. They were: “Super Bowl 2023” (increase of 550%); “Daylight Savings 2023” (increase of 400%), and “Memorial Day 2023” (increase of 300%).
