Heading into the last month of the year, people are thinking about what they accomplished in 2024 and what they want to achieve in 2025. The search was conducted from Dec. 1, 2023, to Jan. 2, 2024. The ranking is based on search interest score.

While traditional resolutions like losing weight and saving money were highly searched a year ago, many in Maryland were interested in traveling and reading.
If traveling is on your agenda for the upcoming year, then make sure you have the right identification card. Starting on May 7, 2025, the federal government will require all airline passengers to have a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or personal identification card to board a plane, even for a domestic flight.
The state’s Motor Vehicle Administration office has more details on what is needed to get a REAL ID at its website, mva.maryland.gov, in the land of Maryland sports betting.
If you prefer to travel in your mind instead, reading more is a great way to do that. According to Gallup, the average American read 12.6 books in 2021. That was down from 15.6 in 2016 and 18.5 in 1999.
If you want to increase how much you read, there are several new books out across all genres. For nonfiction and entertainment fans, “Cher: The Memoir: Part One” is available. Sports lovers might want to pick up the latest from John Feinstein, “The Ancient Eight,” which looks at Ivy League college football and how some of the country’s top academic institutions play the game today. And those who love thrillers should consider James Patterson’s “The House of Cross,” a suspense novel where Alex Cross tries to find out who is killing Supreme Court candidates.
