Baltimore-born big man Derik Queen played a single season with Maryland men’s basketball in College Park and made the Big Ten All-Conference team, plus he was named the league’s Rookie of the Year. Now it’s worth wondering where Queen will go in next month’s NBA Draft. BetMaryland.com developed odds projecting which NBA team will draft Queen on June 25.
Player | Odds | Percent Chance |
Brooklyn Nets | -200 | 66.7% |
Washington Wizards | +850 | 10.5% |
Portland Trail Blazers | +1000 | 9.1% |
Chicago Bulls | +2600 | 3.7% |
The Field | +900 | 10.0% |
These odds are exclusive to BetMaryland.com, the home of the top Maryland sportsbook promo codes all year round.
Jonathan Givony of ESPN.com has Queen slotted in to go 11th overall to the Portland Trail Blazers in his latest mock draft. Givony calls the 20-year-old “perhaps the most skilled big man in this class,” though there’s still a shot that the former Terrapins star goes higher on June 25.
Given the dire need for frontcourt talent in today’s NBA game, there’s a solid shot that Queen goes well before Portland hits the clock. As the draft approaches, Maryland sports betting sites will add more prop wagers related to the 2025 NBA Draft.
He could also go to the Brooklyn Nets at No. 8 in the first round or as high as No. 6 overall to the hometown Washington Wizards, with the former team checking in at -200 odds on our board. The Wizards stand at +850.
Givony believes that Queen will ultimately wind up in Stumptown but we’re not as high on such an outcome occurring, with Portland checking in at +1000 on our odds board. That ranks ahead of the Chicago Bulls (+2600) out of the four teams listed right now. Maryland sports betting apps sometimes offer “The Field” as a wagering option (meaning any possibility not listed) and we have any other team at +900 odds.
What we know for sure right now is that Queen will hear his named called in the early portion of the first round when commissioner Adam Silver hits the Barclays Center stage come June 25. The 6-foot-10 center averaged 16.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game during his 36-game run with Maryland this NCAA season, hitting 52.6% of his shots and 76.6% of his free-throw attempts in his lone NCAA season.
At Caesars Maryland Sportsbook, Maryland has +8000 odds of winning the 2026 NCAA Tournament in the program’s first season under new head coach Buzz Williams.

The 2025 NBA Draft is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. on June 25, 2025, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
