How Do The Baltimore Orioles Perform In City Connect Jerseys?

How Do The Baltimore Orioles Perform In City Connect Jerseys?
Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

It’s been a fantastic start to the season for the Baltimore Orioles, who have jumped out to a 24-12 start and currently sit tied atop the AL East with the New York Yankees across Maryland sports betting.

While Baltimore is currently one game behind the Philadelphia Phillies for the best record in MLB, it’s safe to say that it’s been a picture perfect start to the baseball season in the Charm City.

That strong start has captured the attention of the nation’s preeminent oddsmakers, with the team at sportsbooks like Bet365 currently giving the O’s the third best World Series odds of any team, at +650, ranking behind the Dodgers (+260) and Atlanta Braves (+600). BetMaryland.com is home to all Orioles odds throughout the season.

Since Brandon Hyde’s team has Orioles fans thinking about the Fall Classic already this spring, it's time to think about each factor that will influence the O's record this season. That led BetMaryland.com to break down how Baltimore has fared in the franchise’s specialized “City Connect” uniforms.

Donning Baltimore-centric jerseys wasn’t always a good thing for last year’s AL East champion Orioles, who went 4-5 in their City Connect jerseys, speaking to the fact that looking good doesn’t necessarily imply that you’ll play good on the diamonds of MLB.

Overall, the 2023 Orioles averaged 4.98 runs in 2023, while giving up 4.19 runs against in 2023. Proving the disparity while wearing the City Connect jerseys last year.

The stats are even more dreary this season for the O’s in their special unis, with Baltimore losing each of their first three City Connect games and the club averaging 1.0 runs per game to 5.7 runs allowed during those contests.

While it’s early in the season and Baltimore will undoubtedly have many opportunities to right the ship in their City Connection threads, it’s worth keeping an eye on whether the team’s bad vibes continue in the unique jerseys that Nike cooked up in a Portland area lab.

Nonetheless, Hyde’s squad will look to pick up their first special jersey gameday win against the NL West squad at Camden Yards on Friday night, when pitcher Cole Irvin squares off against Brandon Pfaadt on Apple TV+ in a primetime showdown in the Charm City.
