The Baltimore Ravens open training camp next week for the first time since firing longtime head coach John Harbaugh, and the buzz around the Under Armour Performance Center is impossible to ignore. For fans tracking  Maryland sports betting markets, this camp carries extra weight. Rookies report July 24, veterans follow on July 28, and the first full team practice open to the public is July 29.

Minter Era Begins With Super Bowl Expectations

This camp marks the debut of new head coach Jesse Minter, a defensive mind who spent years on Harbaugh's own staff before rising through the ranks with the Chargers and Michigan. Minter takes over an operation that still has a Super Bowl-caliber roster, and anyone using Maryland sports betting apps this summer will notice Baltimore listed near the top of nearly every AFC futures board. The goal is simple. Get back to the playoffs and turn this talented roster into a legitimate championship run under a fresh voice in charge.

Lamar Jackson Looks to Bounce Back

Much of the intrigue centers on quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is looking to bounce back after an injury-riddled 2025 that saw the Ravens stumble to an 8-9 finish. Jackson's chemistry with running back Derrick Henry and wide receiver Zay Flowers remains one of the most explosive combinations in football when healthy, and oddsmakers clearly believe in the upside. The Ravens currently sit with the third-best odds to win the Super Bowl on DraftKings at +1000, trailing only the Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills. If Jackson returns to MVP form, that number could shrink fast.

Fixing a Defense That Lost Its Edge

The bigger question is whether Minter, a defensive coordinator by trade, can finally fix the side of the ball that has quietly become the Ravens' Achilles heel. A unit that once terrorized opposing offenses slipped in recent seasons, and repairing that identity is central to Minter's pitch since taking the job. How quickly that group rounds into form during camp could shape the ceiling for this entire season.

Navigating a Loaded AFC North

Getting back to the postseason means getting through an AFC North that remains stacked even in a transition year. Joe Burrow and the Bengals are healthy again and dangerous. In Pittsburgh, Mike McCarthy inherits a Steelers team built around a returning Aaron Rodgers and a defense that has stayed competitive for years. Cleveland rounds out the division, and while the Browns are not considered true contenders, they have shown they can knock off anyone on a given Sunday.

What to Watch as Camp Opens

None of that changes what training camp represents for Baltimore right now. It is the first real look at how Minter wants his team to operate, how Jackson responds to a fresh voice in the building, and whether a defense that once defined the franchise can rediscover its edge. Camp runs through August 17, with 12 open practices giving fans a firsthand look before the real evaluation begins in September.

For a franchise that has not felt this uncertain in nearly two decades, next week cannot come soon enough.
