Lamar Jackson is officially active for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills in Orchard Park, New York. The Ravens quarterback has been declared healthy after missing three games with a left ankle sprain. He will face Josh Allen in a matchup that could preview a playoff meeting. For anyone following Maryland sports betting markets, the return of a two-time MVP changes how the game is viewed. Baltimore has needed its franchise quarterback, and now it gets him back against one of the best teams in the AFC.

How Jackson Earned the Green Light

The Ravens did not rush this decision. Jackson logged full practices this week, giving the team a clear look at how his body responded, especially his ankle. Cutting, planting, and escaping the pocket are what make him special, and his ankle has to hold up through it all. Once he produced enough in practice, coach Jesse Minter deemed him ready. The workload was the test, and Jackson passed it.

The Injury and the Road Back

Jackson hurt his left ankle late in the first half of Baltimore’s 24-18 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 4. He did not return and left the stadium in a protective boot. He then sat out games against Atlanta and Cleveland while the team called him week to week. The Ravens got closer to a return ahead of the game against Cincinnati. Jackson practiced in a limited capacity that week and was listed as questionable. Baltimore was hopeful he could play, but he was downgraded to out, and Tyler Huntley started in a 35-13 loss to the Bengals. That setback made the extra caution this week look wise.

What Comes Next

The stakes could hardly be higher. Baltimore is 4-3 and sits fourth in a very good AFC North. Every game carries weight in a division this tight, and a road win in Buffalo would go a long way toward climbing back into the race.

The Ravens must protect Jackson, starting with pass protection and a game plan that does not ask him to absorb unnecessary hits. A strong run game and quick throws can reduce his exposure. Minter and his staff should also monitor his snap count and how the ankle responds each week.

Jackson has a part to play too. He needs to avoid the extra hit by sliding, stepping out of bounds, and choosing when to extend plays. His talent is not in question. Staying on the field is what will define this season for Baltimore.

Fans looking at Maryland sports betting apps for Sunday will be watching his first drives closely, because how he moves will say a lot about both his health and Baltimore’s playoff chances.
