Crab Sports Is Latest Maryland Online Sportsbook To Launch
Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

The list of Maryland online sports betting operators is now at 11 as Crab Sports Maryland joins a growing lineup of choices Marylanders now have to bet on sports via computer or mobile device.

The Maryland Lottery & Gaming Control Commission announced that, on July 10, Crab Sports successfully completed a controlled demonstration of its online sports wagering platform. The platform is available at crabsports.com.

As part of the controlled demonstration, customers participated in live wagering as Maryland Lottery & Gaming staff ensured that Crab Sports was able to comply with all required procedures and that its systems functioned properly.

As a result, Maryland regulators issued a license to Crab Sports, Inc. and its operator partner, iGaming Cloud, Inc., for a Maryland sports betting app.

Crab Sports A Locally Focused Operator

Compared to some of its online competitors with national profiles, Crab Sports is a relatively smaller operator.

Previously, Crab Sports has described its business plan as “engaging local Maryland businesses to build market share through performance driven partnerships ensuring that all proceeds from sports wagering activities stay within the local community.”

One connection involving Crab Sports and a local company is a deal with Jimmy’s Famous Seafood in southeast Baltimore. Jimmy’s is a restaurant known in the Baltimore region and elsewhere for its crab cakes.
