Who Are the Orioles’ Most Valuable Hitters?
Fact Checked by Pat McLoone

We’re one month from the opening pitch of one of the most anticipated seasons in Baltimore Orioles history. Much excitement is building for Orioles fans and throughout Maryland sports betting as the team looks to repeat as AL East champs for the first time in 50 years.

Entering the 2024 MLB season, the Orioles rank fifth on ESPN BET Maryland’s World Series odds board at +1200, behind the Los Angeles Dodgers (+375), Atlanta Braves (+550), Houston Astros (+800) and New York Yankees (+900).

As far as win totals are concerned, Brandon Hyde’s squad enters spring training at an over-under of 90 at DraftKings Sportsbook Maryland.

Using Sports-Reference.com, BetMaryland.com dug into the highest-performing batters based on runs better than the average (RAA). We then ranked the list according to salary. Factoring in both criteria, we ranked the top 10 most valuable batters for the Baltimore Orioles.

Henderson and Rutschman 1-2

According to this research, Gunnar Henderson is the most valuable batter for the Orioles with a RAA of 41 and a salary of $723,200. Unsurprisingly, franchise cornerstones Henderson and Adley Rutschman are the O’s leaders when it comes to value, at 1.5 and 3.5, beating out Jordan Westburg (4), Cedric Mullins and Ryan McKenna (6 each).

Both Henderson and Rutschman rank among the MLB’s leaders when it comes to AL MVP odds on ESPN BET, at +2000 apiece, with the dynamic duo ranking seventh behind stalwarts such as  Aaron Judge (+550) and Juan Soto (+600) of the Yankees, Corey Seager (+850) of the Texas Rangers, Yordan Alvarez of the Houston Astros (+900), Julio Rodriguez of the Seattle Mariners (+1000) and Kyle Tucker of the Astros (+1500).

Rounding out the list of most valuable batters in Baltimore last year were Austin Hays and Ryan Mountcastle, with an average rank of 6.5, and Anthony Santander, Ramon Urias and Bryan Baker (7).

One way or another, the O’s young core will look to capture another 100-win season in the Charm City this summer, giving bettors plenty of chances to look for Maryland sports betting promo codes.
