The Maryland Sports Wagering Application Review Commission will vote on two online sportsbook applicants and three sports wagering facility applicants at its meeting on Wednesday.

All the online Maryland sports betting applicants have been found to be qualified after criminal and financial background checks by the Maryland Lottery & Gaming Control Commission staff, and those findings have been passed to the SWARC.

On the second stop of the sports wagering license approval process, the SWARC determines whether to “award” gaming licenses based, in part, on whether awarding licenses is in the public interest.

After an entity is awarded a license, it must pass final approvals by Lottery & Gaming Control Commission staff before a Maryland betting apps gaming license is “issued” and the gambling company can begin taking wagers.

SuperBook Sportsbook Brings Famed Name

Among the applicants, SuperBook is among the most interesting because it’s an offshoot of the famous SuperBook in the Westgate Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas, one of the top destination sportsbooks in the country.

And SuperBook partnered with the Baltimore Orioles to bring a retail sportsbook to the vicinity of Orioles Park at Camden Yards.

SuperBook is live for mobile sports wagering in Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, New Jersey and Tennessee as well as operating its traditional sportsbook in Nevada.

Diversity Discussion Also On Docket

The SWARC will also hear about diversity plans being implemented by a handful of operators, including: Bally’s Interactive Maryland, LLC; Long Shot’s Hagerstown, LLC, and WSI US, LLC or WynnBET Maryland Sportsbook.

The Super Bowl is over but the only annual sports betting event in the same class in terms of interest, the NCAA Basketball Tournament, is just around the corner. And this will be the first year that bettors in Maryland can wager on March Madness on their mobile devises statewide.

So trust BetMaryland for the Maryland sportsbook promo codes you seek before placing a wager.
